Fall Decorating

Live jumping fish, Chinatown ,NYC

Happy Monday!

This weekend was kind of rainy and chilly so I spent some time organizing my house and cleaning my scrap supplies. I got to put up some Fall decorations on my mantle and finally hung up a bunch of frames that I have deliberating on what wall they should go on for at least a year.

These are the things that I am loving lately:

1. These fabric Thickers that look like denim
2. Houndstooth

3. This "Chirp" stamp from the Bad Girls Sept. kit
4.Birdcages
5.The BG Ambrosia Collection butterflies
That's all for now..Have a wonderful week!

Fun prize and some layouts.

What a Campbell's Soup Kid!! My daughter could eat these soups everyday. They taste pretty darn good if you don't mind the sodium. Reminds me of when I was little.
So I finished my assignment #3 "Less is More" for the Bad Girls Academy . I was planning on doing a different layout, but I was getting tired of waiting for the photos to come in the mail and I was too anxious to work on my assignment so I used some photos I already had. To be honest, I think it came out better than I expected. I had wanted to do something like Anne Geddes where my subject is somehow perched on a flower, but I didn't have the right materials so I used the flowers petals as the base. I am pleased with the results and hopefully I will get to move on to Round #4.
I got a great prize pack in the mail the other day from the PortraitBug which is going to be one of the only scrapbooking stores in NYC. What a lovely pack. I got some Dream Street papers, a Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist pack with three gorgeous fall colors and a screen stencil, a Riff Raff dragonfly (awesome!), and some Martha Stewart rhinestones (always fabulous!).

I have been meaning to play with some of my KI Memories lace paper. I used two different colors on this layout, as well as, my new scalloped circle punch that I ordered and LOVE!! The best part of this layout to me though, are those gorgeous Glitz Designs rhinestone alphas..Oh they are so cute!!
Here is a circle layout I did with the Making Memories Animal Crackers collection. I used my alpha stamps that I picked up in the Dollar Spot at Target. Score!! They aren't the best, but for a dollar??, great!!
Finally, Here is a layout using this Anna Griffin paper that I think is so pretty.
I added some hand-cut butterflies, as well as, used my Studio Calico spotted butterfly stamp from a couple of kits ago. And theres that scalloped punch again with a Rhonna Farrer rub-on. Those rub-on's were pricey, but they came in a cute tin, work well, and the designs are stunning.
That's it for now. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday!!!

Shopping fun and some layouts

Happy Tuesday! I had a good weekend. Went out to dinner for my Birthday 3x's (Legal Sea Foods, Indian, & Little Italy), went apple picking, and spent some time in NYC at the San Genaro Festival in Little Italy and on Canal Street in Chinatown.

I also spent some time trying to do a couple layouts for the A Million Memories 2 year Anniversary Crop that was held last weekend.

I did 3 challenges including the sketch challenge:

the 2's challenge:

And a challenge in which I had to use 4 photos, stripes, chipboard, and journaling strips:

I did some shopping at my LSS and got some new BG Ambrosia papers which I so love for Fall, some AC Christmas Flair, and some of those new Maya Road chipboard cupcakes..Yum!

Finally, I made it to round 3 of the Bad Girls "Top Designer" contest.
Here is my round 2 submission in which we had to use our photos as the guide to colors and using lots of patterns. This week's class involves using lots of white space. I need to start working on my layout.
That's all for now. Have a fabulous day!!

Ti amo Moda Bella!!

I wanted to give a shout out to the fabulous September Bad Girls Kit featuring all that wonderful American Crafts Moda Bella.
The colors are so bright and fun. I think I need to go out and get a little more. I especially love those new puffy Thickers and the Flair buttons. I honestly didn't think I would like the Flair because I thought they were actual pins, but they just have an adhesive back. They are so much fun to use.
Here are a couple of layouts I did with the kit.

Speaking of the Bad Girls. I completed my Class 2 Bad Girls Design Academy Project. We had to use our photos as a guide to choose colors and varying degrees of patterned paper as the challenge.

Here is mine:
I am quite happy with it. I hope I make the cut.
That's it for now! Have a Fabulous Thursday!

Round 2-ding ding..

Well, I made it to Round/Class #2 of the Bad Girls Design Academy. This week's project involves using color and multiple patterned paper. I'll have to see what I can come up with.
I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend! I had a very nice weekend with my family going to the mall on Saturday and relaxing on Sunday. It was hot and humid here yesterday-like in the 90's, but this week should be much cooler. The one thing that I wish that I could have gone to this weekend was the Chicago Renegade Craft Fair. Here are some vendor photos of their crafts that they were selling there.
Too cute!! Maybe I will go to the one next year in Brooklyn if they do it again.

These colors are my favorites this month.

They coordinate so well with the October Afternoon Detours collection that I have been using so much of lately. My problem is that I use a certain line so much, that I finally just get sick of it and then have to move on to something else..I have been trying to wait so patiently for all the new Sassafras lines to come out. Hopefully it won't be that much longer.
Here are two layouts that I recently did with the Sept. Studio Calico kit using that Detours line, as well as, some very cool Tinkering Ink paper that also coordinates with my favorite colors of the month.

Speaking of new and funky lines, I just did a layout using the new BG Offbeat line that I picked up the other day at my LSS. I love that little blue bird!

Finally, I have been meaning to use this Jenni Bowlin large Bingo card for quite some time, but I wasn't sure with what photos until I realized that these photos of Isabel at my front door would be just the perfect thing.
I finally broke down and bought the MM Evergreen paint or that tree as I was tired of trying to mix greens out of the colors that I already had in my paint collection. Making Memories paints really work the best for me on paper, rather than just regular old craft paint that I normally use on wood.

That's it for now..Off to play with my new Sept. Bad Girls Kit that is sitting at my front door.

One last thought, as a lot of you know, we tragically lost a Studio Calico sister, Aleida, last week. Her family is in our thoughts and prayers. Life is so short, what we do (scrapbooking) is so important. It is how we live on and share who we were with our future generations.. Design Teams, clubs, they are all fun, but let's not forget why we do this and why love it..

Autumn is in the Air

My friend in Texas sent Isabel this little cowgirl hat. I hope and pray that her family stays safe during this impending Hurricane.

Don't you just love a challenge? This layout I did for Class #1 of the Bad Girls "Top Designer" contest. In this class we had to show several different layering techniques. I really love this Graphic 45/Paper Studio combination. It goes so well with B&W or Sepia photos.

I had been meaning to scrap these photos of Isabel in the rain from the early Spring for quite a while now. As luck would have it, my Studio Calico Sept. kit provided just the right embellishment. This little stamp:
It is actually 3 little stamps, but who can resist that cute little umbrella man?

Anyway, here is the completed layout using those new October Afternoon papers.
In this layout, I was experimenting with the new Jenni Bowlin crepe paper ribbon on the flowers. I need to research some more ways how to use it.

Lastly, here is a layout from Isabel's first day of school. I used some Autumn Leaves paper that I had in my collection for quite a while. I love that little ruler ribbon!!

A Sunday in September

Are you ready for some football?? I am not, but I couldn't resist buying this shirt for my daughter. She picked it out and Target and loved it so much, well..I couldn't say no. Plus, she looks so cute in it!

Speaking of happy things, I thought I would share some of my favorite trims and findings that I picked up recently.
There is some beautiful May Arts lace and autumnal floral ribbon some gray Artsylicious ribbon (expensive, but very pretty), some Heidi Swapp large bling brads, some beaded flowers and trims that I picked up in the Hobby Lobby when I went to Texas, and some of the new Jenni Bowlin Crepe Paper ribbon that I need to figure out how to use.

I got this Jewelery holder for my necklaces and bracelets at Pier 1 last weekend and as I was staring at it all week on my dresser, I thought it would be perfect as a ribbon holder. So, I hit another Pier 1 on Thursday and found one holder left. There should be a little bird at the top, but he is missing, so I got it at a bit of a discount. This is a work in progress as I still need to add more ribbon to it.

Finally, I have really been in pursuit of using up a lot of my old stash so here is a layout using some My Mind's Eye. I added some glitter and Glossy Accents to the chipboard letters and used my new Martha Stewart doily punch around the frame.

In this layout I used the Urban Rhapsody K&Co. line. I also added some new sequin trim that I got in A.C. Moore the other day.

Happy Sunday!

Off to school..

So my little one started her very first day of pre-school. I am happy and sad because she is growing up, but it is time and she is going to have such a great time learning, playing, and making new friends. It will also give me a little time to myself..maybe for some scrapping.

Speaking of which..I love Anna Griffin, but I really don't use her stuff much anymore..I do love this paper that I picked up in Michael's again which I used before, but it suited this layout perfectly. I used my crackle paint and some new lace trim that I picked up the other day.
I got the MS doily punch this weekend so I need to start using it. This layout uses the MS Cornice punch which makes a really nice border on the SEI Poppy paper. I added some flair with some Heather Bailey swirls.
This last layout just come together for me as I wanted to use the grey and green Crate Paper from the SC August kit. I added some Hambly transparencies that I hand cut on the right side. Then I used that fabulous butterfly stamp from the kit. The brown/green/orange theme just all kind of came together. Yet another new color combo. to love.
Wishing everyone a wonderful shortened week!!! Thanks for stopping by!
